Impressive Technical Specifications

Bai Chay Bridge stands firm at 903 meters long, 25.3 meters wide, and 150 meters high. The bridge's underside features a 130-meter-wide gap that allows large ships to pass through. Using balanced cantilever technology, the bridge beams span over the water, with their ends interconnected at a height of 50 meters above the water surface, enabling ship operations during the construction process. The bridge has 6 lanes of traffic, with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for pedestrians, bicycles, and other non-motorized vehicles.

Constructed by Japanese Contractors

The construction of Bai Chay Bridge was undertaken by two Japanese contracting companies, Shimizu and Sumitomo Mitsui Construction, with Yanagawa Haruo as the project architect. After 20 years of planning, bridge construction began on May 18, 2003, and was completed in November 2006, with the construction process taking about 40 months. The bridge was officially opened on December 2, 2006.
